“Unlocking Success: My Journey to Passing ISC2’s Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) Exam”

Certification Overview:

The CC exam is an entry-level cybersecurity certification that validates foundational knowledge, skills, and abilities for an entry- or junior-level role in cybersecurity. The exam encompasses five domains:

1. Security Principles

2. Business Continuity (BC), Disaster Recovery (DR), and Incident Response Concepts

3. Access Control Concepts

4. Network Security

5. Security Operations

The exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, with a two-hour time limit (120 minutes). A passing score is 700 out of 1000, as detailed in the Certified in Cybersecurity Exam Outline available on Cybersecurity Certifications and Continuing Education | ISC2. Although the exam itself is free, there is a $50 fee for the certificate and annual maintenance upon passing.

A crucial tip for the exam: Once you select an answer and proceed to the next question, you cannot return to change your response. Therefore, it’s important to read each question thoroughly, select the best answer, and manage your time wisely.

My Preparation Journey:I dedicated two hours daily for three weeks to study, ensuring no interruptions from daily tasks, work-related issues, or family matters. Adhering to the 5:00 AM club, which has been transformative, my study sessions were consistently from 5:30 AM to 7:00 AM. Additionally, I spent thirty minutes each evening over coffee reviewing the morning’s material.

Please note, the length and intensity of preparation may vary based on individual skills and experience; some may require less time.

Study sources: I suggest anyone going through the journey of acquiring the CC must first see what resources are available in the ISC2- I signed up for free online self-paced training which has good example relating to a layman term, has quiz’s which tests your knowledge, pod casts, interactive videos (Just EXPLORE 🙂 ).

I purchased a course on Udemy, the link is provided below for reference: ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) Full Practice Exam 2024 | Udemy

On Exam Day: I prefer not to read new topics or attempt any practice questions on the day of the exam. Instead, I revised flashcards while traveling to the test center. I arrived half an hour early and presented my two forms of identification. (Pro Tip: Always bring two forms of ID with you – ensure to read through the Pearson VUE test instructions and follow them.)

During the Exam:

Stay calm and trust in your preparation. I must confess that I was mistaken I could change my answers at any time during the exam. This is not the case. Once you select an answer and move on to the next question, you cannot return to the previous one. Your answer is final.

(Pro Tip: Take your time to choose the correct answer – once you click “Next,” your answer is locked, and you cannot go back to that question.)
